Alison Hammond is taking over from Matt Lucas to become the new co-host of The Great British Bake Off. The This Morning presenter expressed her excitement by posting a video on social media featuring miniature models of herself, Noel Fielding, Paul Hollywood and Dame Prue Leith all made out of icing. She said she was “absolutely thrilled” and “so very excited” to be joining the show’s next series.

Noel Fielding and Dame Prue Leith welcomed Alison Hammond to the Great British Bake Off tent with warm words of congratulations on Instagram. Fielding said they’d be “two naughty kids together” whilst Prue said she was looking forward to Hammond’s “infectious laugh”. Hollywood added a simple “welcome” and an applause emoji. Fans also shared their excitement for the new addition to the Bake Off family.

Alison Hammond’s humour will bring a warm and positive atmosphere to the Bake Off tent this year, according to executive producer Kieran Smith. Hammond previously took part in the celebrity version of the show for Stand Up To Cancer in 2020, and received praise from judge Paul Hollywood for her baking efforts, albeit with a comment on her decorating skills being like those of a five-year-old.
