Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is Scheduled to hit screens in December 2023, is generating buzz as snippets about the impending DCEU project surface. Jason Momoa, who initially portrayed Arthur Curry, a.k.a. Aquaman, in 2017’s “Justice League,” later headlined his own DCEU solo film in 2018. With considerable success at the box office and critical acclaim, the film delved into Curry’s origins and his quest for the throne of Atlantis. Although Momoa made a subsequent appearance in 2021’s “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” the sequel, as hinted in the “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” trailer, promises a significantly altered journey for Arthur Curry since his last solo installment.

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom Story:

James Wan’s working title for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom as “Necrus,” a name familiar to DC Comics enthusiasts. Serving as a darker counterpart to Atlantis, Necrus is an underwater city governed by a tyrant aspiring to dominate the surface world. The sequel’s enemies, depicted in Aquaman’s battles, hint at Necrus being the elusive “lost kingdom.” The December 2021 synopsis teased an “ancient power,” unveiling Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Trident. The 2023 trailer solidifies the Trident’s significance, as Black Manta deploys it in a vendetta against Arthur Curry’s family, central to the film’s plot, shedding light on Aquaman and Orm’s unexpected alliance and the urgent quest to safeguard the royal bloodline, including Arthur’s vulnerable infant, a poignant concern echoing a notorious comic storyline.

Arthur Curry Has A New Costume In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom:

In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Jason Momoa is set to showcase two distinct suits. The first pays homage to Arthur Curry’s classic gold and green comic-inspired attire, a staple in previous DC Universe renditions of Aquaman. The second is an entirely new addition – a metallic blue “stealth” suit. Drawing inspiration from Aquaman’s 1986 Neal Pozner comic run, this suit is specifically crafted for enhanced underwater camouflage, deviating from the traditional vibrant appearance of Arthur’s previous costumes. Its introduction in the film hints at a potential infiltration mission, while its sleek design aligns with the mature tone hinted at by director James Wan.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom Uses New Underwater Filming Technology:

Creating underwater scenes is integral to an Aquaman film, requiring characters to engage in interactions, conversations, and expressions beneath the waves. In the 2018 installment, actors were tethered to rigs simulating floating, with CGI water added in post-production. Jason Momoa expressed discomfort with this method. However, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom adopts a new technique. According to James Wan (as reported by Cinemablend), the sequel eschews harness rigs in favor of performance capture. Multiple cameras capture the actors’ movements, which are then digitally transposed onto a 3-D model. This innovative approach promises a captivating and improved visual experience for audiences.
