Chalamet is seen sporting the trademark brown top hat and long purple coat, reminiscent of Gene Wilder in 1971 and Johnny Depp in 2005. What is Wonka about?

The plot details of Wonka  are yet to be unveiled, but the musical will focus on the younger years of Willy Wonka before he becomes the legendary chocolatier depicted in Dahl’s 1964 novel. At CinemaCon in April 2022, exclusive footage of the film was showcased, featuring Chalamet’s candy maker character asking, “Is everybody ready?” and engaging in a tap-dancing sequence on a table, as reported by Variety. The clip concluded with Chalamet reading from a candy wrapper, stating, “It’s not the chocolate that matters. It’s the people you share it with.”

Who else is in the Wonka cast?

The cast of Wonka includes Timothée Chalamet as the titular character, along with notable names like Keegan-Michael Key, Rowan Atkinson, and Olivia Colman. Sally Hawkins takes on the role of Wonka’s mother. Co-star Key praised Chalamet’s performance, emphasizing the actor’s effortless portrayal of Wonka’s charisma and confidence. Director Paul King, in an interview with Rolling Stone, expressed that Chalamet was his first and only choice for the role.

A surprise addition to the cast was revealed at CinemaCon 2023, with Hugh Grant set to play one of Willy Wonka’s Oompa Loompas. Chalamet expressed his excitement about working with Grant, describing the experience as a dream.

Three-time Oscar nominee David Heyman, known for his contributions to the Paddington movies, returns as one of the film’s producers alongside Alexandra Derbyshire and Luke Kelly. Heyman’s extensive experience includes producing Best Picture nominees like “Gravity” (2013), “Marriage Story” (2019), and “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” (2019). Mark Everson, a collaborator from King’s past projects, joins as the editor, while Oscar winner Lindy Hemming (known for “Topsy-Turvy” in 2000) takes charge as the costume designer.

Introducing new talent to King’s crew, six-time Oscar-nominated production designer Nathan Crowley and acclaimed cinematographer Chung-hoon Chung join the team. Chung’s notable work includes films such as Park Chan-wook’s “Oldboy” (2003) and “The Handmaiden” (2016), adding their expertise to the visual and artistic aspects of “Wonka.”

Is there a trailer?

The first trailer for Wonka was released in July 2023, offering a glimpse into Chalamet’s character as a magician, inventor, and chocolate maker. The trailer showcases breathtaking scenes of Chalamet sailing on a boat and exploring a jungle while perfecting his craft.

Filming for Wonka took place in iconic locations such as London’s Abbey Road studio, where Chalamet recorded for the movie, and Oxford, England, where he was photographed filming in February 2022.

Originally slated for a March 17, 2023 release, Warner Bros. announced at CinemaCon 2022 that Wonka’s debut would be pushed to December 15, 2023 (8 December Wonka   Wonka   Wonka   Wonka   2023).
