Georgia Harrison, reality TV star, has revealed that she was living in fear of more footage from an explicit video shared without her consent being released. This follows her ex-partner, Stephen Bear, being found guilty of voyeurism and sharing private sexual videos online and sentenced to 21 months in jail.
Seeing the video on the subscription site OnlyFans was the “final straw” for her. Additionally, Georgia Harrison was fearful that Bear would sell even more footage, as he had used CCTV cameras to capture them having sex, and then sent it to a friend and sold the video online.
Georgia Harrison started criminal proceedings against Bear in December 2020 and said that the process of going to court was both tough and empowering. The six-minute clip was posted online, while the original video was 20 minutes long, and she was aware that some people “were viewing the whole thing”, which was difficult for her to cope with.
As part of the sentence, Bear was given a restraining order to not contact Ms Harrison, who has appeared on Love Island and The Only Way Is Essex, for five years, and he was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and will be subject to notification requirements for 10 years.

The incident has impacted Ms Harrison, as she stated that it has taken away an innocent spark from her and made it difficult for her to trust others. She also revealed that she receives messages from at least five women going through a similar situation every day, and this incident is actually “such a common thing”.
Ms Harrison is now a campaigner for this issue and has expressed an interest in getting involved in politics, even jokingly saying that she wouldn’t “push” to become the next Prime Minister.
In 2015, the law was amended to make non-consensual pornography or image-based sexual abuse a criminal offence. However, with the introduction of a new amendment in 2021, it is now also an offence to threaten to release private sexual images and films without consent.
The law requires intent behind the release of pictures and videos, either to cause distress or embarrassment, and it can be difficult to convict suspected perpetrators. Therefore, Ms Harrison is now calling on the government to remove the requirement to prove intent from the law, as an amendment to this effect was proposed as part of the Online Safety Bill in November.
