What happened in Ponniyin Selvan 1?

The great novel by Kalki has been attempted and failed to be filmed several times, but filmmaker Mani Ratnam has succeeded in splitting it into two parts.

The biggest strength of the film was the perfect choice of actors to bring life to all the characters of Aditha Karikalan, Arulmozhi Varman, Vandiyathevan, Nandini, Kunthavai, Sundarach Cholar, Poonguzali, Vanathi, Aniruttha Brahmarayar, Alwarkadiyan Nambi, Madhurandhagan, Senthan Amuthan, Veerapandian, Ravi Dasan, Oomai Rani.

The protagonist of the story is Vandiyadevan, a lovely, courageous, and clever young man who sets out to carry a message from the Crown Prince Aditya Karikalan to the King and Princess. The plot centers on his sister Kundavai’s attempts to convince Arulmozhi Varman to return so that political stability may be restored in a nation that is ostensibly showing indications of upheaval and civil war. The Northern Command’s general, Aditya Karikalan, resides in Kanchi, while Arulmozhi Varman is engaged in combat in Sri Lanka. Nandhini had captured the attention of Aditya Karikalan. Kundavai Devi sent Vandiyadevan to Sri Lanka to urge Arulmozhi Varman to return right away.

Madurantakar, Sundara Chola’s Prime Minister, Azhwarkadiyan Nambi, Vaanathi, Poonkuzhali, Mandakini, Nandhini, Manimegalai, Vandiyadevan, and Arulmozhi Varman are only a few of the characters shows in the film. Vaanathi is in love with Arulmozhi; Mandakini is a Mute Queen; Poonkuzhali is the boatwoman who rowed the future king to Lanka; and Nandhini can sway any man. Arulmozhi Varman is trapped in a tropical storm and disappears. The first part of the Movie is just an intro for every character. Every character’s introduction is contained in the opening act of the film. And in part 2, the real narrative starts.

PS 2 Review

Arulmozhi Varman is trapped in a storm and disappears while returning from Lanka. Even though there is a rumor that he has passed away, he lives and dwells at the Buddhist monastery Choodamani Vihara. The family gradually begins to gather after being spread out. At that moment, Nandhini summons Aditya Karikalan to Kadambur Palace to debate the destiny of the country. Karikalan visits the Kadambur palace despite being aware that his existence is in grave danger. What happened to Vandiyathevan and Kundavai’s love? Are Vanathi and Arul wed? Did Nandini kill Aditha Karikalan? Who ultimately received the crown? Overall, Mani Ratnam has given this part 2 movie, with some unexpected twists.

Aditha Karikalan, if not brave enough, fans will laugh. If there is no beauty and poison in the eyes, people will not like Nandini. Vandiyathevan must be a master of jokes.  Arulmozhi Varman should be a beautiful, intelligent, and farsighted person, and Kundavai should possess the wisdom of a king despite being a woman. The main characters are Cyan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha, with actors chosen for each role according to their suitability. It is what makes this movie so successful.

Every technician has worked tirelessly on this historical film; it is evident in every frame. Ravi Varman’s cinematography transports us to the Chola nation and the AR. Rahman’s background music is mesmerizing.

The second part is held together by the dual role-playing of Cyan Vikram and Aishwarya Rai. The passages for Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha are perfect, but Vikram and Aishwarya will likely leave the most impression on the audience. It may be a major negative for those who have read the Ponniyin Selvan novel because the filmmaker Mani Ratnam has changed several of the scenes to fit his own needs. Overall, the stunning aesthetics, in addition to the heartbreaking drama, are what boost PS 2 to the level of presenting a bigger-than-life watching experience.
