Sengalam Web Series Review: The plot of a trendy political mystery
Many people were interested in the Sengalam series when the teaser for it debuted on the Zee 5 OTT network. Expectations for the play increased as a result of the screen crew’s participation in numerous programs and claims that this tale is a political drama. Gist of the story
Political wolves vying for the post of municipal council president…Brothers who are absconding after committing 3 murders are challenging the police that they are going to commit 2 more murders. Family politics
Sivagnanam and his relatives have held the position of Council President of the Virudhunagar District Municipality for 40 years. From generation to generation, their entire family, including the grandpa, father, and son, has been involved in politics.
In that constituency, even the ruling party MLA Vela Ramamurthy has not to have the influence that the municipal council president has. He, therefore, plans to somehow break up this powerful family. After father Shivajnanam, his eldest son Rajamanickam is the municipal council president. After some time, He and Surya Kala (Vani Bhojan) get married.
A lost life and desire for the Position!
Raja Manickam and Surya Kala go to Kodaikanal Hill for their honeymoon when an accident occurs. In this, Raja Manickam dies and Suryakala survives. In the following event, Everyone asks who will be the next municipal council president, Shivajnanam plans to get ‘sympathetic’ votes if his deceased son’s wife Surya stands in the election.
This tactic does not sit well with his two kids, who blast out at Surya Kala. Also, Surya’s desire for the position takes hold little by little. Knowing this, Shivajnanam gradually changed his mind. Then Who did he choose to stand as the chairman of the Municipal Council?
Siblings who commit murder jointly
Royer (Kaliyarasan), who has committed 3 murders along with his siblings in Virudhunagar district and is absconding with them, challenges the police officer who is determined to catch them and is about to commit 2 more murders. Afterward, They assassinate Vela Ramamurthy, an MLA, and his BA. What is the relationship between these people and the murdered people? With very few unexpected expenses the remainder of the narrative provides answers to numerous concerns.
Fantastic opening depicts
The Sengalam series, from the first episode to the last episode, is shown as traveling through flashbacks and the present, from “that day” to “today”. The first four episodes of the series cover marriage, death, and homicide, so the plot proceeds quickly. The next portion demonstrates the political gains, aspirations for a charge, and crimes done for it.
Thus, Sengalam continues to move at a fast pace without any speed limits until the sixth episode. Even though the plot may have heated up following Vani Bhojan’s political aspirations, it’s reverse that has admirers dozing off. Fans have been drawn to the series because it sometimes includes political references to Tamil Nadu.
Vani Bhojan showed innovation
Vani Bhojan, who came from the small screen to the silver screen, has been acting in soft female roles for so long. Through this series, she has shown innovation in her choice of character, and she has not left behind in his performance. The series has many stars like Kalaiyarasan, Vani Bhojan, Pawan, Sarath Lokithaswa, and Viji Chandrasekhar. According to their tasks, everyone gets an equal amount of screen time. Each of them performed their parts flawlessly.
The twists are not sufficiently satisfying
This is Tamil cinema’s first full-length political drama series. The filmmaker deserves praise for saying clearly how much authority and status are addictive to those in position. Some of the twists in the story were unexpected and many were already expected, so it seems that the story could have some more interesting twists. Fans of the filmmaker are becoming more and more impressed by the way director portrays Tamil Nadu politics, particularly the local politics taking place in the Virudhunagar District Municipality.
On the whole, if you watch with a little patience, the Sengalam series will stop before your eyes the political events that took place in our town in the last 30 years.
