The Plot Of The Movie
The Kerala Story, a film directed by Sudipto Sen and starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani, was launched today amidst fervent protests. In this movie, it is claimed that over 32,000 teenage girls in Kerala have converted to Islam and are now being prosecuted as terrorists and forced to engage in sexual acts, which has shocked many people. Despite strong opposition in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the movie was not outlawed. The review of this movie, which is playing in fewer theatres, can be found here.
In a college dorm, a Muslim girl persuaded Hindu and Christian girls that Allah is the greatest deity and that if they wear the hijab, they won’t be raped. The Kerala Story by filmmaker Sudipto tells the tale of girls who converted to Islam, made them fall in love with Muslim boys, married them, took them to Syria, and turned them into ISIS militants and sex slaves.
The Kerala Story Movie Review
Three young Hindu ladies from various parts of Kerala are driven to join ISIS after becoming radicalized and converting to Islam in the actual narrative known as The Kerala narrative. It centers on Shalini played by Adah Sharma, Gitanjali played by Siddhi Idnani, Nimah played by Yogita Bihani, and Asifa played by Sonia Balani, Shalini’s roommates.
By using hallucinogens, Asifa has a covert agenda to reveal and transform her roommates into Islam. Shalini is compelled to marry someone else after finding out she is pregnant, so she sets off on a protracted journey to Syria via Pakistan and Afghanistan. The portrayal of Shalini by Adah Sharma is significant and very moving, and it is clear from watching the film how much effort she put into accentuating Malayali words correctly.
A thought-provoking movie, The Kerala Story, uses the perspectives of Yogita Bihani, Sonia Balani, and Siddhi Idnani to explore the situation of the nation today. Director Sudipto Sen has selected a delicate and complicated subject matter, and Prasantanu Mohapatra did a fantastic job of securing the scenes in Afghanistan and the Afghanistan–Pakistan border regions.
The producers of the film occasionally extended scenes and sequences of terrible violence, rape, and exploitation to emphasize the suffering of the women touched by it. Overall, the parallel tales of the past and present are rather well-balanced. The current plot uses plenty of close-ups when the characters’ circumstances have gotten worse and the consequences are harsh as opposed to when everything was as it was in the past. Medium shots and long views are frequently employed in the previous plot to show how the main setting affects the main characters.
The background music of “The Kerala Story, however, greatly irritates the audience. That is extremely loud. It almost flies in the front of the story. For instance, you can hear the sound of lashes whenever a propaganda session regarding the ‘helpless’ Hindu gods or discussion of ‘hell fire’ etc. takes place. In addition to increasing the impression that may be communicated without using that type of musical element, this virtually breaks the narrative.
Although the hotel scenes with the girls are well done, the movie also has some tedious and uninteresting parts. It’s crucial to use caution while seeing the horrifying rape incident at the ISIS slave camp.
Viewers may have concerns about the nation’s present status after viewing the movie. This thought-provoking movie is frightening and definitely makes an impression.
