Transformers: Rise of the Beasts Review
Transformers Rise of the Beast is a live-action Transformers movie directed by Stephen Cable Jr, who has not been directed by Michael Bay. The movie features Optimus Primal and the Maximals teaming up to stop bad things from happening, trying to get the thing before the big bads get it. The movie starts with an awesome setup with Optimus Prime and then introduces human characters. While not directed by Michael Bay, Rise to the Base and Bumblebee have done that human element better than the Transformers movies that came before live-action.
The movie starts with a great setup with Optimus Prime, which is a relatable dude who’s just thrown into the mix of this situation. Noah Diaz and Dominique Fish back focus on Noah Diaz, who does a great job as he is a relatable dude. However, the script is self-aware or ad-libbing when it gets a little too cheesy. There is one line in particular where he makes a joke about it, but the only way it works speaking of great energy is through the animated movie.
The robot fights are fun, but they should be entertaining and spectacle. The last act of the movie when all the robots fighting was some plain gray molten Mordor with a whole tower that looks like Barador. The last act was just plain gray-molten Mordor, which was a less interesting version of Mordor. The last act when there was a problem, was like a less interesting version of Mordor, complete with a whole tower that looks like Barador.
The biggest disappointment is with the maximals entirely. The movie revolves around everyone looking for a thing, which is always a thing Transformers movies have to have at that point. It’s the Amazing Race to find the thing first right absolutely, but in the last act when it was like oh this is a problem okay well we’ll do this this and this and then you can get into the thing and do this thing that requires is a very conveniently human-sized problem so we can have the humans do something while we’re all fighting so they don’t feel useless.
The audience was laughing, but there were some badass moments that didn’t help but smile. The biggest disappointment is with the Maximals, who aren’t rising at all. They have the biggest arc with Optimus Primal, but the rest of his troops don’t know much about them. Michelle Yo is the most dialogue-rich trooper, but Chidor has fewer rhinos. He even talks like he was there to be a big brute smashing baddies for the final acts.
As a Beast Wars fan, I want to see more hell and Beast Wars standalone films. One of the more interesting arcs in the movie is Optimus Prime times because he’s always been that good and freedom is the right of all sentient beings.
In the Transformers franchise, the live-action Transformers movies have a diverse range of characters, including Gandalf the Light, Optimus Prime, and Optimus Prime. Optimus Prime, a Wise Old Sage, and battle-hardened space deity, is a character that can be a character in and of itself, without revolving around human beings. While some movies have problems with their production, Transformers Rise of the Beast is one of the most enjoyable ones. It leaves the viewer with a feeling of interest and eagerness to see where the franchise goes.
