What is the story of Viduthalai Part 1?
The government is planning to build a mine in the hill village of Arumapuri. But an organization called People’s Force led by Perumal Vathiyar (Vijay Sethupathi) takes up arms and fights against the mine. Kumaresan (Soori) works as a driver in the police team that goes to arrest Vijay Sethupathi, the leader of the organization. Soori is given a memo by his superior Chetan, who is accused of disobeying his superior’s orders.
Soori’s relationship with the mountain woman Bhavani Sri develops in the meantime. He eventually learns the location of Vijay Sethupathi and other members of the People’s force in secret. The entire hamlet was being detained by the special police forces, who were torturing them while attempting to apprehend Vijay Sethupathi. Additionally, Soori’s partner is entangled in it.
To save the love of his life and some village females, Soori chooses to turn on Vijay Sethupathi. Was his partner then saved by Soori? Is it not? Are they able to capture Vijay Sethupathi? Is it not? What happened to Soori, who struggles to stay on task without giving up himself? What is the relationship between Soori and Vijay Sethupathi in the rest of the story of the film? That is the first portion of the movie’s narrative.
The primary protagonist Soori
Everyone was shocked to learn that Soori would be portraying the lead in the movie Vetrimaaran when the official information was made. To make up for it, Soori did this figure credit. Soori, who portrays the police, gives an outstanding performance. By displaying his sympathetic performance in various locations, sad facial expressions, and his powerful character of battling for justice with the authorities in any circumstance, he has drawn the attention of admirers.
Soori is currently playing the part of Kumaresan, which will be his lifelong role. In instances where he defies the commands of his supervisors and maintains his character, Soori, who joins the police force as an assistant, performs brilliantly.
Vijay Sethupathi vs Soori:
Even though there are only a few moments, actor Vijay Sethupathi, who portrays the movement’s leader, gets the audience to go wild. His on-screen performance has improved the movie. As usual, Gautham Vasudev Menon, who portrays the character of DSP, attracted attention with his signature performance.
Vijay Sethupathi has fewer scenes in the first part. He might make more appearances in subsequent parts. But he did a great job. Soori is seen in more scenes than Vijay Sethupathi. The role played by Vijay Sethupathi is a minor one.
The story flowed with the music
After an extended break, musician Ilayaraja has once again demonstrated with excellent tracks and top-notch background music why he is the master of music. Our hearing is caressed by his sensual melodies. He created brand-new music specifically for this film.
Credit in large part to the background music by Ilayaraja, Vetrimaran’s pictures successfully transport the viewer to the emotions portrayed in them. The screenplay’s development is mirrored in the music. He also added great background music, which put life into the movie.
You will be wounded by the film
Even though the first half of the movie drags, the second half’s sequences leave us in shock. Some areas were inaccessible to us. However, every element is essential to the overall composition. Vetrimaran filmed the film in such an original way. The most impressive aspect of this movie is the work of the cinematographer Velraj. The mountain hamlet where the tale is set can be felt clearly through his camera.
The movie’s opening “7-minute single shot” unquestionably elevated it to a higher dimension. The brutality against women in the community in the second half of the movie broke your heart.
Even though he was exhausted at some points throughout the screenplay, Vetrimaran gave the dialogues to the extent of clapping and whistles in the theater, once again illustrating the real world under the control of the government and the police, such as the atrocities committed by the government against the common people and the atrocities committed by the police officers from the special police force.
Since this is the first part of the Viduthalai, the director Vetrimaran concluded the movie by introducing the moviegoers to the basic plot of the story, getting them ready for the next installment, and increasing anticipation for the sequel.
